MARE, 135 apartments in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca, a housing complex close to the beach. The project combine’s freeholds and social housing, all set around common gardens and a central swimming pool.
All the apartments enjoy outdoor areas, from gardens in ground floor, balconies on the upper floors and panorama rooftops in the penthouses. The challenge in MARE project was to accomplish the highest quality standards and, at the same time, to solve the needs of a social housing project, always committed to the community regardless of their economic level.
The materiality chosen for each block follows a visual line and remains constant, allowing no distinction between one type of housing from the other, while giving an individual identity to each plot.
The project is built following passivhaus standards. Since water is a scarce resource in Mallorca, all rain water is collected for gardening and the grey waters are re-used to flush toilets and for irrigations.
