Lalia, a new members' club and a private workspace in the heart of Palma, at Santa Eulalia square just opposite the church with the same name. A building with soul. Is a unique concept founded to provide intellectual and social nourishment to the members, it offers a unique space to work and meet.
Lalia occupies 2 floors of the existing structure plus a direct access to the roof top. Together with the working spaces and meeting areas at ground floor and first floor, both designed around the existing patio, a small apartment is provided. A full restoration of the existing building is needed to accommodate the new program and technologies.
The project restores completely the building while keeping and enhancing the valuable existing elements of the space such as the existing tiled floors, fireplaces, carpentries and ironmongery: valuable elements from the past, memory and witness of the old building.
Special attention is given to the existing collection of tiled floors which are lifted, cleaned and installed again in their original position. It creates an unique catalogue where every room has its own identity, reinforcing the concept of the members club: a mix of working spaces with social interaction.
