GRAS Reynés Arquitectos among the winners of the American Architecture Prize.

For the second year running, the American Architecture Prize presents its book "Architecture of the Year 2017", which includes the best and most innovative architectural designs.

The program of these awards is dedicated to projects that push the boundaries, set new standards and inspire other professionals, now and in future generations. 

This year's edition, among almost 300 renowned architectural designs, includes one of the projects of our architectural studio, the single-family house Where Eagles Dare. This project is the winner in the Residential Architecture category. 

Where Eagles Dare is a private residence on a hilltop in the Port of Andratx, Mallorca. This spectacular house "flies" out of the mountain with an impressive overhang of 7 meters. This architectural gesture allows the house to move away from the urbanization and open up 360 degrees to the views of both the sea and the valley. Thanks to this large cantilever and the structural composition of its elements, the house is extremely efficient in summer, protecting the ground floor from the direct sun.

The choice of materials for the construction of the house reinforces the concept. Both the transparency of the glass in the windows and the white Krion cladding on the façade provide lightness to the design and the structure itself, and allow for this ethereal sensation of the house.
