Lasztownia exhibition at the architecture festival WESTIVAL in Poland

28/10/2017

Last 29th of October took place the XI edition of the Festival of Architecture "WESTIVAL", a festival dedicated to architecture, and that also intends to be a platform of integration and feedback for its visitors and creators.

Westival is an initiative by the Polish Association of Architects, SARP, and comprises one of the most important events in Poland dedicated to the art of architecture, and an integral vision of the city, not only in the architectural or urban context, but above all in the social context.

On this occasion, GRAS Reynés Architects, as one of the winners of the competition "Lasztownia - The New Heart of the City", has been invited to participate in the exhibition that bears the same name, with the other winners of the competition, jurors, architects, residents of Szczecin, as well as the president of the city. Represented by our director Guillermo Reynés, and the architects Filip Szafalowicz and Klaudia Sandecka from our architecture studio in Mallorca, the exhibition gave rise to questions and a debate carried out by all the attendees.

The 11th edition of the Westival, called "RESET", took place in the Cultural Centre of the Euroregion "Old Abattoire" (Centrum Kultury Euroregionu "Stara Rzeznia") and has been dedicated entirely to architectural and urbanistic activities that inject new life into existing fabrics.

Competition for the Lasztownia vision.

The competition, under the title "Lasztownia - a new heart of the city - a competition for the development of a concept for the urban development of the Miedzyodrze area, including Lasztownia in Szczecin", was carried out by 26 teams. The purpose was to create and present a concept for the development of the Miedzyodrze area (the islands of Zielona, Kepa Parnicka, Grodzka, and especially the Lasztownia area north of the Dlugi Bridge).
The results of the competition were announced on October 16. The jury, led by Prof. Magdalena Staniszkis, selected three winning entries and six honours, one of which belongs to the project presented by GRAS Reynés Arquitectos under the title Lasztownia.
