Giacomo Sorino graduated with a master in Building Engineering and Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Bari at the beginning of 2018, completing a thesis project on BIM Methodology and architectural relief applied to Built Heritage in collaboration with the University of Alicante. Through this project, he took part in the international research work of AEDIFICATIO Group on emergency interventions in the Medina of Tetuán (Morocco).

In the beginning of 2020, he graduated from the annual Master “Global BIM Management” with a double degree from “Zigurat Global Institute of Technology” and “Instituto de Formación continua-IL3” of Barcelona’s University in collaboration with BIM Freelance, and obtained the title of BIM Specialist/BIM Architect in Revit, after completing the BIM levels A1 to C2 of EBIME, recognized by the Buildingsmart Spanish Chapter.

After an Erasmus Traineeship period in the office, he has been working at GRAS Reynés Architecture Studio as an architect since 2018, collaborating at the same time with the AEDIFICATIO research group at Alicante’s University.

During his activity at GRAS, he had the chance to participate in several projects of different scales, from single-family houses to high standards multi-family buildings and urbanplannig  competitions, in which he has been able to be involved in all project phases, from the schematic design phase to execution and construction.

Among various projects, he is currently working on the executive project of 8 apartments building in Palma de Mallorca, the restoration and conservation of a private villa in the old town of Binissalem and a renovation project of the facade of a large-scale office building.

His research activity consists of his contribution in the book “Health, wellbeing and sustainability in the Mediterranean city” as the author of  the chapter “Landmark preservation criteria and BIM methodology”, and of his participation as a speaker in the “3rd International Conference on Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Design, Construction and Operations” by the Wessex Institute of Technology (2019, Seville).

During his university career, he had the opportunity to carry out two Erasmus exchanges, the first as a student in ET-SIE - ETSAG University of Granada and the second aimed at the completion of the master’s thesis at the University of Alicante, attending, during this time, the 13th CI-COP congress on rehabilitation of the built heritage.

Throughout his education and experiences, Giacomo has been working for more than 10 years to organizing events in his hometown, Monopoli, that is reflected nowadays in his competence in efficient problem solving and his ability to work as a team and interact with people and colleagues at different levels, always aiming to create a positive and lasting relationship.
